Angry One

Another variation. I tried to do side views of this guy during lunch, it didn't work out very well. I need more practice hopefully I will be able to up load some examples. Choosing a place to live next year is a royal pain.

Yes!

I had alot of fun with this but I need to stop spending so much time on these. I just had to get it right because I liked the idea. I'm still a day behind on my drawings. We drew in pen and ink for the first time today in art. I seem to still be pretty good, maybe digital work transfers over. The composition could have been stronger in this but I'm still pretty happy.

Robot Variation

A variation on the robot I had done earlier. I don't like it as well. I'll have to try again. Goodness I'm all thrown off center right now. Getting these images done helps though.

Not Weighted

I was inspired by Assassins Creed for this. It took absolutely forever. I'm still not completely satisfied with this.

Pointy Rocks

My actual drawing for today. The last being my drawing for yesterday. I need to work on my clouds more and be more bold. I think I've been working in a comfortable place for too long. I'll try to break out in the coming days. I'm up to four people following my blog, which is pretty cool considering I don't really publicize it. Two days from now I'll get to try out my friends wacom tablet. I'm pretty excited since I've always been curious how the things feel to draw on.

Barn

I had a lot of fun with this. This was done for Speed Painters United. The theme was barn and we were meant to focus on composition in this piece. I tried to use a leading line to bring the focus to my barn which looks very similar to a dog house. Ironically I used the cover of The Art of Bolt for the colors.

Oldm man

I'm not really sure what I do on the weekend for fun. One of the transfer students how lives on my hall asked me what I did on the weekends. I didn't really have an answer. I guess I do drawings and sit on my computer looking up stuff. Is that fun? I'm not really sure. I need to figure this out. Maybe fun isn't what I'm looking to have on the weekends. Maybe rest is what I want to get out of them. I need to think about this.

RobotOthing

I had my first real art class today. We critiqued the mazes we had all done. Each person had to say a little about their maze after everyone went around the room and looked at everyone's maze. Mine wasn't very good; I didn't have enough variation in line quality nor enough personal experience involved in the maze. Our weekly sketch book assignment is to draw two of the same type of things together five times. We are supposed to think about composition and unity. Interesting assignment, I could use the practice. In class we drew still lifes with branches, it was hard and gave me a great appreciation for pens. I thought the class was sort of boring mainly because I missed being in a CWA art class where I had a group of people to talk to while I worked. I hope to try to work on the look of this guy a few more times, mainly because I don't like the design yet. It should be good

Soaring

I did this a few days ago and forgot to post it here. I drew it for a weekly challenge on dA. The subject was soaring. I had some trouble coming up with something that embodied the word "soaring" so I went with something that is more the opposite. I rather like the character. I will try drawing him again and exploring different ideas (hopefully)

An hour and a half

That's how long it took to draw this. An hour for the sketch and thirty minutes for the color. I had my first day of three of my classes. Peasants looks like it will be interesting. The class focuses on the under-represented with a focus on what they were thinking. Should be good

School has started

I'm back in the swing of things (oh and swing dancing on monday nights). It's weird to be back after 4 weeks. I spent some time wondering if I would like to transfer to a more art focused school. I have a hard time making the decision even though I have been told that if I set my mind to it I could make a living out of art. I feel that if I go to an art school I would be set on that career for life. Although that reasoning isn't correct, it has a big sway in my thinking. In my mind transfering to an art school is like applying for a career. It's a big change which scares me. This is all just trying to interpret myself; I don't know for sure if this is really what makes me nervious about switching schools. Coming back to UPS really reminded me of how much I love the school. During a national portfolio day at Cornish I talked with a representative of Art Center (the school I would be most likely to transfer to as they seem to be one of the best schools for the field I'm interested in (entertainment design(I thought environmental design before the guy corrected me))). He told me that I need to show more exploration on the designs I do. Hopefully I will be including varations on some of my new designs and iterating through them to find the best piece. I sort of always knew that I should be doing this but just plain didn't feel like it but after all I used to get bored if I spent too much time on a drawing so I will eventually enjoy doing variations.

The Rain

It is so rainy here in Washington. I went out to take pictures in the morning and was very wet. Later in the day my dad went out kayaking in the ditches and I followed along to take pictures. Had to side step along a good portion of fence near the end of our road to stay dry and get some good pictures. On each post all the insects clung to the fence posts. I had never seen anything like it. All day I was hoping for a UPS truck to arrive and had given up hope by 7:00. A few minutes after seven the truck arrived and I was so happy. My brother made it back from Bend this evening. He was the last one accross I5 before they closed it near Centralia.

I really had fun with this drawing although it took longer than I wanted

Long Cheeks

First drawing in awhile. I sketched it to my friend in Messanger
