Fruit Still Lifes

Fruit still lifes done for my independent study. All three are done from photos I took in an attempt to capture the scene and draw it later. In the future I need to draw from actual life.

Shift+click

An exploration of using the shift key to create point to point lines. I liked the effect but had to resort to regular strokes to fill in this. It works well for the initial drawing though

Lasso tool

A drawing done for an independent study in digital painting. I was working with incorporating the lasso tool into my process. It creates some really nice lines, definitely something I will continue to use.

Thief

Thief 4 has been under development for a while. I'm pretty excited for it to come out. This drawing is inspired by the cut scenes in Thief: the metal age

Castle Hill

The composition was way to centered on this piece which gave me trouble for a while then I added the left foreground cliff which seemed to help. I created the original sketch using Alchemy, a really fun program that I haven't completely figured out to incorporate into my painting process

Idyllic

Probably a little over the top on this one. The foreground doesn't seem that strong. I drew this up in normal layers instead of using a multiply layer for color than drawing over that. It works well for the background but overall doesn't change the look much

Bunch of rocks

Playing around with photo textures in a more dominate role in a drawing.

Mushman

I love the eyes on this guy. I had trouble figuring out what to do with the feet. Function definitely followed form in this one. I still have no idea what the jet like things do. Maybe the fellow is a water creature of some sort.

Rock landscape.

Placement is so important, I should have done more studies but it was late and I wanted to get a drawing done.

Forested dawn

I really love playing with forests and lighting. Something about the effect seems so inviting. I would love to explore every forest I draw which is one of the reasons I enjoy drawing them.
